Acne Awareness Month: Acne Treatment Options

As Acne Awareness Month approaches, it is important to remember that many acne treatments are available.  Even patients with mild acne can benefit from visiting a dermatologist for treatment.  Acne left untreated can lead to the formation of acne scars.  Dr. Schweiger explains that, "Acne scars can be treated with resurfacing lasers, such as the Fractional CO2 Laser or the Fraxel Laser.  These treatments reduce the appearance of acne scars quite impressively.  However, it is best to treat acne before it ever leads to scarring." With June, Acne Awareness Month, just a couple of days away, now is the time to begin treatment of acne.  Acne treatment options available at Schweiger Dermatology and the Clear Clinic include prescription medications and in-office treatments, such as the Isolaz and Photodynamic Therapy.  Laser acne treatments can reduce the marks left behind from acne lesions as they treat and prevent active acne.
