Finally, Answers to Your Acne Questions!

At both Schweiger Dermatology and the Clear Clinic, we make a point to invite our patients to ask questions during their appointment.  It is important to us that you understand your diagnosis, any procedures performed, and what to expect after your visit.  For this reason, we will soon be publishing a informative book on acne, titled "Clear Answers for a Clear Complexion."  This book, which will be available in Fall 2012, will answer all of the questions that you have wondered about acne.  It will even touch on questions that you never thought to ask! Here is an example of one of the many questions answered in "Clear Answers for a Clear Complexion": Why do acne scars develop? There are two major types of acne lesions, inflammatory (such as a pimple or a cyst) and non-inflammatory (such as a blackhead or whitehead). Inflammatory acne lesions may cause damage to the skin. Once the damage occurs, the skin naturally produces new collagen fibers to repair the area.  However, the new collagen fibers do not always produce a skin surface that looks perfectly smooth, and this is how many types of acne scars occur. The upcoming book will not only answer your questions about why acne develops, but it will review how to treat it and the many treatment options for both acne and acne scars.  It also discussed current "hot topics," such as diet and acne, and shares a collection of patient experiences of which you will be able to relate.  Lastly, the book will help you to make smart decisions about your acne treatment, guiding you towards the procedures that actually make a difference and teaching you about the various medications available for the treatment of your acne. Click here to learn more about the upcoming book, "Clear Answers for a Clear Complexion."
