Best Skin Care Regimen for Brides

Here at Schweiger Dermatology, we have noticed that summertime tends to be a popular time for engagements!  Many of our patients have recently become engaged and have made appointments to discuss what they can do to make their skin look great before the big day.  Dr. Schweiger notes that, "While there isn't a one-size-fits-all skin care routine to follow for brides and grooms, there are a few things that everyone can keep in mind.  The key is to address acne or other medication conditions on the skin, improve the general appearance of your skin, and contour any unwanted bulges on the body." To begin the best skin care regimen for brides (and grooms!), we recommend visiting Schweiger Dermatology at least six months prior to your big day.  The first step towards making your skin look great is to address acne and other medical conditions.  The fastest treatment for acne is a combination of in-office laser and light treatments with prescription medications.  Other conditions, such as psoriasis, eczema, melasma, and keratosis pilaris can also be addressed prior to the wedding. The next step is to make your skin glow!  We often recommend at-home use of retinoids, which stimulate skin cell turnover to get rid of dead skin cells that can clog your pores.  Additionally, regular use of the Clarisonic brush can help to reveal healthier, more radient skin.  Chemical peels, the Fraxel laser and Laser Genesis can all improve the texture and tone of your skin.  We will review these treatments with you further during your consultation and determine which treatment is most appropriate for your skin. The last step to looking great on your wedding day is to get your body honeymoon ready!  Of course, exercise and diet are key, but even these traditional methods can always get rid of those unwanted bulges.  Zeltiq CoolSculpting uses a technique called cryolipolysis, which flushes out localized areas of excess fat cells.  Be sure to schedule Zeltiq a couple of months before your wedding, as Zeltiq CoolSculpting takes approximately 2 months to have its full effect.
