Dermal Fillers Lift the Face

Dermal fillers are most commonly thought of as treatments used to fill in lines on the face (specifically, the nasolabial folds, or 'smile lines.') While dermal fillers are the best way to fill in these deep lines, they are also an effective way to lift the face and add volume where volume has been lost over time.  Dr. Schweiger explains that, "As volume in the face is depleted over time, the skin tends to sag a bit.  Certain dermal fillers can be used to add volume; dermal fillers lift the face in a natural way, when used properly." Juvederm Ultra Plus, Perlane, Radiesse, and Sculptra are examples of dermal fillers that are used to lift the face.  During your initial consultation, your dermatologist will help you to determine the best filler for you.  Dermal filler can then be placed in the cheeks and midface area, to add volume and lift the face without surgery. The lift from most fillers can be appreciated right away.  Some fillers, like Sculptra, work by stimulating your own collagen; for this reason, they take longer to have a dramatic effect, but they last for years.
