Deep-moisturize. All that hand washing to avoid germs really sucks the moisture out of your skin, which, if left untreated, can develop eczema, a condition that causes itchy, dry, flaky patches. Moisturize frequently with a cream or lotion thick enough to form a protective layer, says Eric Schweiger, MD, clinical instructor of dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.
