STEP 1
On the day of your procedure, you will arrive at the office by 7:30am. We will review the plan for the procedure and draw the final hairline on the scalp. You will then be given a mild sedative and an oral steroid to reduce swelling during and after the procedure. The final preparatory step is shaving the donor area, so that the hairs to be transplanted are very short.

STEP 2
The next step is numbing of the donor site with local anesthesia; this is similar to the type of anesthesia used at the dentist. After it is completely numb, the donor strip is surgically removed and staples are placed to close the donor site.

STEP 3
Once the donor site is removed, micro-incisions are made at the recipient site with a fine needle.

STEP 4
While the micro-incisions are being made at the recipient site, the donor strip is slivered into smaller sections of approximately 2mm. These small sections are then split into grafts of 1, 2, 3 or 4-hair follicular units.

STEP 5
The grafts of 1, 2, 3 or 4 hairs are then placed into the recipient sites on the scalp.

After the grafts are placed in the recipient sites, detailed post-operative instructions are given to the patient.
You will return to the office 10 to 21 days after the procedure to have the staples removed from the donor site. The scar will be buried under your hair and will be very well hidden.

One month after your procedure, the grafts will begin to shed.
After 3 to 6 months, new hair will begin to grow at the transplanted sites.

Within one year, the transplanted hair is fully grown out and able to be styled. The final effects of the hair transplant can be appreciated.
