How to Fix a Bad Hair Transplant

how-to-fix-bad-hair-transplant-nycAs an experienced hair transplant surgeon, Dr. Schweiger often meets with patients who have previously had hair transplants elsewhere and are not pleased with their results.  Dr. Schweiger explains that, "To fix a bad hair transplant, we generally use a specific hair removal laser to recreate the desired hairline.  By removing the hair follicles that were placed incorrectly or look unnatural, we can return your scalp to a natural looking state.  Hairs that were appropriately transplanted will be left alone, so you do not lose the hair transplant areas that turned out nicely." Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigmented (melanin) cells within the hair follicle.  An average of four to six treatments are necessary for complete hair removal over the treated area.  This process improves the appearance of the hairline and restores your natural look.  Sometimes there are tiny scars left behind after hair transplant surgery, which are revealed by removing the transplanted hairs.  We remove these small marks with a single treatment of the fractional CO2 laser.  This laser improves the appearance of the skin by stimulating collagen renewal to smooth out the scarred skin.
