How to Get Younger Looking Hands

Hands are often considered the 'give-away' when it comes to knowing a women's age.  Many women put a lot of time and consideration into keeping their face looking great, but tend to neglect their hands (another area that sees a lot of sun damage over time!)  Dr. Schweiger explains that, "There are many in-office treatments that we use to improve the appearance of aging hands.  We have lasers, which are very effective at removing brown spots on the hands and improving the texture of the skin.  We also commonly use dermal fillers to restore volume to aging hands.  As we age, we naturally lose volume; this can result in prominent veins on the hands.  The combination of laser resurfacing and dermal fillers can provide excellent improvement in the appearance of aging hands." In addition to the treatments available to produce younger looking hands at the dermatologist's office, it is important to know what you can do to improve the appearance of your hands at home.  We recommend using a great moisturizer at least twice daily, to keep the hands moisturized and smooth.  Additionally, if you have dark spot and sun damage on your hands, your dermatologist can give you a prescription-strength lightening cream to help even out the tone of your hands.  Getting rid of brown spots on the hand can make a big difference, when you are trying to get younger looking hands.  Lastly, it is imperative that you wear sunscreen on the back of your hands regularly, to prevent future damage and aging from sun exposure.
