Dermal Fillers Reverse the Signs of Aging

We are constantly seeing patients who want to reverse the signs of aging. While the best defense against aging is using broad spectrum sun protection every day om every part of your body that is exposed to the sun--even if it's rainy or cloudy--the next line of attack is repairing the skin from damage that has already been done. Another smart approach is daily use of a prescription topical retinoid, which is hands down the most effective topical anti-aging ingredient. Outside of topical creams and sunscreens, here are the fillers you need to know about if you're looking to turn back the clock. Deeper wrinkles form on the skin thanks partly to volume loss in the tissue under the skin. Dermal filler injections can help restore this loss of volume. To give the face a natural look while plumping up the wrinkles, we suggest injections of Radiesse or Sculptra. Both fillers help promote collagen production, which is essential in turning back the clock. Radiesse is made of a calcium-based substance called calcium hydroxylapatite, which stimulates new collagen production. Radiesse lasts up to 18 months. Sculptra is a more natural approach, in that it does not add any volume that is not produced by your own body. Sculptra is comprised of a synthetic lactic acid that triggers skin cells to make more collagen, it can last up to five years. Another option is to go with a hyaluronic acid filler, such as Restylane or Juvederm. These fillers are also great at plumping up deep lines, especially in the mouth area. We have seen impressive results when tackling marionette lines with these fillers. But the results last only about six months with these fillers, which is great for those not ready to make a commitment to one of the other fillers. Outside of fillers, our patients in their 40s and 50s love the way their skin looks after receiving chemical peels. They say it's glowing, more even and looks 10 years younger.
