There has been recent press about the Isolaz Laser for acne treatments and we have also gotten asked several questions from patients in office and via email. We offer this procedure at Schweiger Dermatology in New York. Here is a quick synopsis:
What is the Isolaz Laser and how do the Isolaz treatments work?
The Isolaz treatment is an innovative new therapy for acne. It combines two simultaneous treatments; there is a vacuum that dislodges sebum and grime in the pores, cleaning them out during the treatment, as well as a broad-spectrum light that kills bacteria inside of the pores that can lead to acne. Both the suction and the light treatment are done simultaneously.
Is the Isolaz a painful procedure and what is the expected downtime?
No, the Isolaz is a pain-free procedure. It feels like someone is pinching your cheeks, nothing more than a very mild discomfort. There is no downtime after the procedure and patients may apply makeup prior to leaving the office, if they would like.
How many Isolaz treatments are required to get rid of acne?
Most patients notice an improvement in their acne after the first treatment. We commonly hear that patients find their skin to be smoother and look healthier in the days immediately following even their first treatment. The Isolaz is most effective when performed as a series of treatments. In many patients, NYC dermatologist Dr. Schweiger recommends combining the Isolaz with other acne treatments, such as Photodynamic Therapy (PDT.)
