Lessons in Laser Therapy: Fraxel Re:Store

There are some common misconceptions about Fraxel laser therapy, including how long it takes to see results and which skin types are the best candidates. There are three different types of Fraxel treatments. Here, we spotlight on Fraxel Re:Store, the most popular Fraxel treatment. Fraxel Re:Store Candidates: People with crow's feet and wrinkles around the eyes, acne scars, surgical scars, dark spots (from age or sun), melasma and Actinic Keratoses (rough, scaly spots on the skin as a result from years of sun exposure). How many treatments you'll need: Approximately 3 sessions, spaced 2-4 weeks apart. Downtime: The side effects of Fraxel mostly include swelling and redness, which typically go away after a day or two. Skin is sometimes itchy and flaky afterwards and will often take on a bronzed appearance. This is completely normal. The skin takes eventually flakes off, just like with a sunburn. When you'll see results: Biggest misconception about Fraxel is that you don't see results right away. Actually, the results are immediate, while the skin will show most improvement after two months following the last treatment.
