New Year’s Beauty Resolution: Finally Get Rid of My Unwanted Tattoos

This is the time to make your New Year's resolutions a reality.  If you promised yourself that 2013 would be the year that you remove your tattoo, now is the time to start.  On average, tattoo removal requires 4-20 treatments.  Even if you have 4 treatments performed during each visit (utilizing our newest tattoo removal techniques), it can still take up to 5 months to remove that unwanted tattoo.  Now is the time to start, if you want to tattoo completely removed before the summer beach season. For the best tattoo removal, it is important to visit a dermatology practice that specializes in tattoo removal.  Not all tattoos are created equal, and tattoo removal requires not only experience, but a variety of laser options.  Since  the tattoo industry is not required to regulate the types of ink used for tattooing, many different types of ink substances are used.  This makes our job, to get rid of the tattoo ink, more difficult.  For this reason, Schweiger Dermatology uses a variety of tattoo removal lasers, in order to get the best tattoo removal results possible.  Dr. Schweiger notes that, "In addition to the 532nm, 755nm, and 1064nm lasers that we have been using for years, we recently introduced a 695nm ruby Q-switched laser.  This new laser was used many years ago for tattoo removal, but has since been replaced with newer wavelengths, that treat a wide variety of colors.  We are pleased to have many different tattoo removal lasers in the office, so that we can actually have specific tattoos to use only to the colors that they treat the best.  The 695nm ruby Q-switched laser may not be the most effective for removing black tattoos, but we have the laser that is best for black tattoo ink, and it is the single best laser for getting rid of difficult-to-treat green and blue tattoos."
