Q: I just got a new zit! How can I make it go away fast?


A: The fastest way to get rid of a new large acne lesion is to visit a local dermatologist. They can then be injected with a cortisone shot or surgically extract the pimple.

If you don’t have easy access to a dermatologist, patients may have some benefit from using OTC products like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid twice per day. However, these medications are better at preventing acne, not treat existing acne lesions.

Please note: The home remedy “toothpaste” on it overnight should be avoided!
