Sculptra

What is Sculptra and how does it work? Sculptra is an injectable dermal filler that is injected below the skin above the fat by dermatologists to treat folds, wrinkles, asymmetry, thin cheeks (fat atrophy) and hollowness of the temples. Sculptra is FDA approved and is primarily composed of a material called Poly-L-Lactic Acid. Sculptra works by stimulating the body to produce its own collagen. Usually 2-3 treatments of Sculptra injection are required to get optimal results What areas are treated with Sculptra? The most popular use of Sculptra is facial volume restoration, which involves injecting the product in people who have had fat volume loss resulting in hollow cheeks and temples. It is also used to treat nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Can you tell me about the actual procedure? Before the filler is injected, local anesthesia is added to the Sculptra vial to minimize any discomfort. During the injection procedure, NYC dermatologist, Dr. Schweiger, injects small amounts of Scuptra using a small needle into precise locations to give great results.  The procedure takes about 15 minutes and patients can leave the office immediately after. It takes 2-3 sessions spaced monthly to get optimal results. How long does Sculptra last? Sculptra is the longest lasting filler and lasts up to 5 years. Does Sculptra hurt? There is minimal pain during the procedure, as anesthesia is mixed with the product right before injection. What are the potential side effects of Sculptra treatment? After Sculptra injection mild swelling occurs and usually subsides in 1 to 2 days. It is also not uncommon to have some mild bruising after the procedure, which can last a few days. Patients should avoid Aspirin and alcohol 72 hours prior to the procedure to reduce the likelihood of bruising. Rare complications can include nodules (bumps under the skin), which usually resolve with firm message and dissipate with time. Who performs the Sculptra Injections? All Sculptra injections are performed by NYC dermatologist, Dr. Eric Schweiger. Dr. Schweiger is a board certified dermatologist and expert injector of Sculptra. What is the cost of Sculptra? The cost varies depends on the area treated and the amount of product required to provide the best results. The price of Sculptra typically ranges from around $2000-$3000 for the 2-3 needed treatments. Where is the treatment performed? All Sculptra injections take place in New York at Schweiger Dermatology located in Midtown, New York City (Manhattan).
