Skin Tightening – New Options for Treatment

Non-invasive skin tightening is an exciting development in dermatology.  For many years now, researchers have been trying to get the formula just right.  They have looked into which device (and which type of energy) works best for each type of tightening of different parts of the body.  Here is a glimpse into the best skin tightening treatment options: Thermage: Thermage utilizes a technology called monopolar radiofrequency to stimulate the production of collagen.  The energy is delivered by the non-invasive device in short pulses to the area of the skin being tightened.  Thermage is most commonly used to the lower face, neck, eyelids, abdomen and knees.  Thermage can be used for both tightening and contouring, which makes it one of the most versatile and effective skin tightening treatments.  Most patients require only one Thermage treatment for each area they would like to tighten. Cellulaze: Cellulaze not only tightens the skin, but it breaks up the cellulite beneath the skin.  Cellulaze works by breaking up the bands that pull down to form dimpling, decreasing the fat deposits below the skin, and improving the skin's texture with laser energy.  This improvement of the skin's texture allows for tightening on the thighs and buttocks.  Only one Cellulaze treatment is necessary for each area.  Although it is an invasive procedure, there is little downtime after the treatment and all procedures are performed at Schweiger Dermatology. Botox: Botox continues to amaze us with its many uses.  Botox can be used to tighten the neck and jowls, when it is injected into the bands of the neck.  By loosening these unsightly bands, the neck and jowls appear smoother and tighter.  Botox takes approximately one week to have its effect and lasts for up to four months after each treatment.
