What is CoolSculpting?

Zeltiq CoolSculpting is one of the most exciting treatments performed at Schweiger Dermatology.  One hour of your day in exchange for a 20% reduction of fat cells in the area treated?  That is hard to turn down!  Dr. Schweiger explains that, "Cool sculpting by Zeltiq uses a technique called cryolipolysis to send the fat cells into a phase called apoptosis, or programmed cell death.  Approximately 20% of fat cells in the area treated enter this phase and are flushed out of the body by your own immune system.  It takes your body approximately two months to begin responding to this process, so now is the time to treat your unwanted fat before summer." Cool Sculpting is commonly performed on the lower abdomen, love handles and bra bulge - though areas like the thighs and upper arms are gaining popularity.  Each area treated with Zeltiq CoolSculpting takes one hour, during which you will be comfortable watching movies and letting the device work its magic.  Some patients experience mild bruising and cramping after the procedure, which resolves within a week or two.  Click here to read more about Zeltiq CoolSculpting.
